Brick Sizing

LEGO bricks follow a precise measurement system that makes every piece compatible. The most iconic piece — the 2×4 brick — is the foundation for all scaling.

Main 2×4 Brick Dimensions

A standard LEGO stud is 8 mm wide. A standard brick height is 9.6 mm (including the studs).

How the Logic Scales

All LEGO bricks follow the same simple formula:

• Width = number of studs across × 8 mm
• Length = number of studs long × 8 mm
• Height = 9.6 mm for standard bricks

This means smaller bricks (like 1×1 or 1×2) and larger bricks (like 2×6 or 2×8) all scale perfectly from the same base unit.
